Guess Who - 15 Things About Me

At work, we have this thing going around called 'Guess Who'. Basically there's this big list of questions and we have to choose and answer 15 of them and send them in. Then, periodically, one of our lists gets sent out to everyone. Today, my answers came out. I re-read what I wrote and thought to myself 'my readers might like to read this'. So here are 15 questions and answers about me:

  1. What’s the coolest thing you’re working on right now? – I am currently writing a novel – in the process of editing my first draft

  2. What are some of your pet peeves? – I’m a bit of a stickler for good grammar/spelling, and it especially bothers me when people say “I seen”

  3. Have you ever met anyone famous? – Yes. Quite a few actually, as I like attending the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo each year – have also attended the Regina/Saskatoon/Edmonton Expos in the past, and went to Comic-Con in Philadelphia in 2016, which was probably my favourite in terms of which famous people I met!

  4. What are you reading right now? – The Fountain by Suzy Vadori, an author I met at the Calgary Expo this year. NOTE: I have since finished that book as well as a few others, and am actually in the middle of Suzy's second book currently.

  5. What was your favorite band 10 years ago? – In 2008 my favourite band would probably have been Fall Out Boy or someone similar.

  6. Have you had your 15 minutes of fame yet? When/How? – Sort of! When I was in grade 3, I wrote a poem for a contest run by the Regina Police Department. I was one of the winners, and as part of that we were picked up from school in a police cruiser, had happy meals for lunch, got to tour the police and fire departments, and had our picture taken with a fire truck, which was published in the police magazine. More recently, I published an article for It’s All About You! (you know, those emails you probably just hit delete on) NOTE: It's All About You! is an electronic circular we receive via email at work.

  7. What is your favorite quote? – Work hard, play hard.

  8. If you could visit anywhere in the world you’ve never been, where would you go? – So many places! I’d like to get a corkboard map and fill it with pins as I visit places, until the entire map is just a mass of pins!

  9. What is your favorite family tradition? – My family doesn’t have much in the way of tradition, but I love going to my cousins’ for family supper from time to time!

  10. If money were not a consideration, what kind of car would you buy? – A corvette – my mom had one, so it’s kind of a sentimental thing… but they also look really nice too :)

  11. What are you currently watching on Netflix? – I’ve been watching a show called Superstition – it’s pretty good so far. My friend and I have also been watching the latest season of Jessica Jones, but it’s taking forever since we can only watch when we’re both free. NOTE: I have finished watching Superstition.. and about a dozen other shows/movies since writing this... we still haven't finished Jessica Jones though...

  12. What’s the best meal you’ve ever had? – This will probably change, but the most recent memorable meal was in a little restaurant in Moose Jaw for Cinco de Mayo, where they made guacamole fresh at our tables and then we had super tender salsa chicken – sooooo good!

  13. Who is your favorite superhero? – Probably Captain America. He has a strong moral compass, but he also puts his friends and family first, above all else.

  14. What’s a secret talent that no one knows about? – Not really a secret, but not many people know that I play the piano.

  15. What are you passionate about? – My writing, it is very important to me and I have so many ideas that I would like to eventually share with the world.

The big reveal... sort of

Today, while editing, I came to a point in my story where there's a pretty pivotal reveal. It's the ninth chapter, and according to my general plotting outline (which, admittedly, I created after writ
